Envigo Science and Technology week 2018 - helping build a healthier and safer world

Recently Envigo held its first Science and Technology Week, across some of our key locations. We spoke to our President of EMEA Operations Lizanne Muller about this positive new program. Lizanne is based at our Huntingdon facility. She said: “Science and Technology Week was developed to celebrate the work that takes place across our organization every day. It was wonderful to see so many people sharing their passion for the work they do.” During the week we also invited our suppliers to join in our celebrations and discuss our ongoing partnerships.

Safety first: your guide to the Toxic Substances Control Act

Every government is keen to ensure that the chemicals produced, manufactured and used within their countries are safe for consumers and used appropriately.  The ‘Frank R. Lautenberg Chemical Safety for the 21st Century Act’ was signed by President Obama on June 22, 2016.  It is in effect now for new and existing chemicals and is the United States’ main chemical management law. The toxic substances control act (TSCA): one year on

This act amended the ‘Toxic Substances Control Act’ (TSCA), which is the primary US chemicals management law. One year on, on 22nd June 2017,2 the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) fulfilled its statutory duty by issuing additional rules and guidance. Life beyond 2018 - navigate through the hurdles

In a turbulent world, where the geopolitical order is in transition, the one thing you can rely on is the constancy of the May 2018 REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals) deadline. Yes, Thursday May 31st 2018 was the deadline for registering existing substances used in low volumes (one to 100 tonnes per year) in the EU. Although this marks the formal finish of dossier generation for existing substances, it is by no means the end of the process. Start your REACH journey before it's too late

Starting your registration for REACH Phase 3 can seem a daunting task. Here’s how to beat the ticking clock, and spare yourself some major EU headaches.

Phase 3 of REACH is in progress now. The deadline for Phase 3 is June 1, 2018. The deadline for pre-registration is even sooner - 31 May 2017.

It’s almost ten years since the European Union (EU) established its REACH (Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals) regulations. Broadly speaking, REACH’s Phase 1 in 2010 covered chemical substances of very high concern. This phase dealt mainly with larger volume suppliers. Phase 2 of REACH followed in 2013. Now it included companies that manufactured or imported chemical substances in quantities between 100 and 1,000 tpa. Phases 1 and 2 are now complete. Between them thousands of chemical substances have been registered.
